Prenatal & Postpartum Care in New Orleans

Pregnancy and the weeks after birth ask more of your body than almost anything else in life. You deserve care that meets you there: skilled hands, warm food, and someone tending to you while you tend your baby.

In New Orleans, I come to your home. Choose a single massage, a six-week postpartum bodywork series, or full postpartum doula care.

In Greenwell Springs, prenatal and postpartum massage are available in-studio on Wednesdays.

Kayla Stroughter, Licensed Massage Therapist (LA4848) · 20 years of bodywork · 12 years as a doula

Prenatal Massage

Your body is making room for a whole new person. Prenatal massage eases the aches that come with it: low back, hip, and sciatic pain, rib and round ligament discomfort, swelling in the legs and feet, and the restless sleep of late pregnancy.

You'll rest side-lying, supported by cushions, so you and your baby stay comfortable the whole session. As a doula, I also make room for what's moving through you emotionally. Pregnancy changes more than the body.

Postpartum Massage & Cesarean Recovery

After birth, your body carries a new kind of load: hours of feeding and holding, a belly finding its way back, and for some, a cesarean incision that's still healing. Postpartum massage tends to the neck, shoulders, and back, supports abdominal and core recovery, and, once your incision has healed and your provider has cleared you, works gently with cesarean scar tissue.

Your baby is welcome to stay close. I've rocked newborns back to sleep mid-session and worked around nursing more times than I can count.

Postpartum Doula Care in New Orleans

For most of human history, a new mother didn't do this alone. Someone cooked for her, bound her belly, kept the house, and watched over her so she could rest and bond with her baby.

My postpartum doula care brings that back. It centers you, the mother. There may be some baby care and help around the house, but this is daytime care for your recovery, not overnight newborn care.

Every package includes:

A prenatal planning visit (1.5 to 2 hours) to shape your care before baby arrives

14 in-home visits over six weeks: three a week in weeks 1 and 2, two a week in weeks 3 through 6

Bodywork for you and your baby

Belly binding

Birth integration: space to process and honor your birth story

Herbal teas and infusions to support healing

Emotional and somatic support

Tending the space, so you rest in a home that feels cared for

A closing ceremony near day 40

Visit lengths are ranges so each day can follow what you and your baby need.

The Forty Days

The full tradition: I cook for you. Visits run 3.5 to 4.5 hours, longer on cooking days.

Before birth, I build a menu for you from Chinese medicine and Ayurvedic principles for rebuilding after birth: easy-to-digest first foods, warming broths, and herbal tonics. I can shop for and source everything on the menu; the cost of groceries is paid by you, separate from the package price. I'll work around any allergies or restrictions. In the first days, your food may be just for you. As you move to heartier meals, I'm happy to cook enough for the whole family.

$5500

Tend

Everything except cooking, for families who already have meals covered by someone they trust. Visits run 2.5 to 3 hours. You'll still receive nutrition guidance to carry out, plus herbal teas and infusions at every visit.

$4000

How Booking Works

  • Book a free call. We'll talk about your due date, your home, and what you're hoping for.

  • Reserve your month. A 25% deposit holds your due-date window. The balance is paid in installments and completed by 37 weeks. Payment plans through [Klarna] are also available.

  • Plan together. Your prenatal planning visit happens in your third trimester.

  • Care begins when you're home. If you or your baby need a longer hospital or NICU stay, nourishment comes to you there, and your home visits begin when you're home.

I take only two postpartum families a month, so booking early matters.

Availability: Visits are available every day except Wednesday. Monday and Tuesday, 1 to 8 pm. Thursday through Saturday, 10 am to 8 pm. Sunday, 12 to 8 pm. Postpartum packages are New Orleans concierge only.

What families say

"I felt deeply supported and understood"

I had a wonderful experience working with Kayla as our doula. She also performed prenatal massages during my pregnancy that were absolutely divine. It was great to have her as a resource.

- Annie

"Her presence was such a gift to our family."

Kayla is an incredible doula and masterful massage therapist. She was right with us the whole time and helped me feel safe and supported.

- Meredith D.

"She is a talented healer and offers the kind of safety that allows others to expand"

Kayla’s quality of presence is both ego-less and fierce. I watched her act as both a coat and a shield: ensuring that I felt comforted and also that my authority as the person giving birth was respected.

Questions

Don’t see your question here? Text me at 504-615-8442 or book a free call.

Do you provide overnight or night-nurse care?

No. My care is daytime support centered on your recovery. If you need overnight help with your baby, I'm happy to share referrals.

When should I book?

As soon as you know your due date. I take only two postpartum families a month.

What if my baby comes early, or we're in the hospital longer?

Your care starts when you're home. During a longer hospital or NICU stay, I'll bring nourishment to you so you're not waiting for good food.

Is massage safe during pregnancy?

For most pregnancies, yes. Tell me about any complications when you book. In some cases I'll ask for your provider's okay first.

When can I have massage after a cesarean?

Gentle work around the shoulders, back, and legs can begin soon after birth. Direct work on your scar waits until the incision has fully healed and your provider has cleared you.

Can my baby be in the room?

Yes. Babies, toddlers, and pets are all welcome.

Are the herbs safe while breastfeeding?

Your intake covers medications, breastfeeding, and allergies, and I choose gentle, traditional preparations with that in mind. Please share anything I recommend with your provider if you have concerns.
